RE/MAX Valley Walks with The Relay For Life

  
Too many times we have had to watch, unable to help those close to us as they battled the horrible disease, cancer. RE/MAX Valley Real Estate has joined the fight through the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. 

American Cancer Society's signature fundraising event, Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs for our Local American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times during the event.  

In May 1985, Dr. Gordy Klatt, a colorectal surgeon and avid runner, took the first step of his 24-hour walk/run around a track in Tacoma, Washington. He clocked 83 miles, raising $27,000 to support the American Cancer Society. The following year, 220 supporters on 19 teams joined Dr. Klatt in this overnight event, and the American Cancer Society Relay For Life was born.

This May was Boardman’s Relay For Life Walk. RE/MAX Valley Real Estate’s tent was filled with beautiful items, all donations from the community. The turn out was huge. The multitude of generosity and contributions was phenomenal. Funds raised totaled well over $300,000.

“What an emotional experience it was to see how many cancer survivors there are in the valley and how many different age groups are involved. Knowing that the rate of survivorship in large is do to all the contributions towards research, makes me feel proud to be involved” Says Nancy Cuffle, a survivor herself and Chairperson for RE/MAX Valley Real Estate Relay For Life Team. Cuffle further states, “I encourage everyone to get involved year round and donate what ever they can.”

“Along with others in our community, RE/MAX Valley Real Estate was proud to raise funds to fight cancer and to celebrate survivorship,” says Nancy Cuffle. “Relay For Life represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day, cancer will be eliminated.

RE/MAX Valley Real Estate knows that one way they can show their commitment to this valley is to become involved in events like Relay For Life. They are also proud sponsors of the Children’s Miracle Network and The Rescue Mission, and hope that in some small way they will help make a difference. RE/MAX Valley Real Estate wants to remind everyone that organizations like these need our help all year long- not just on holidays or at events such as this one.
