RE/MAX Father and Son Pedal
1,700 Miles for Charity

(BOARDMAN, Ohio) The father-son team of Karl Sterling and Nick Sterling is pedaling the nearly 1,700 miles from Syracuse, New York to Cedar Hill, Texas on their bicycles to raise $25,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network. The cyclers stopped in the Valley on June 30^th before continuing on their way to Texas.

The Sterlings began their trip in Syracuse, New York on Tuesday, June 28^th after several months of training. They will travel through six states before arriving in Cedar Hill, (near Dallas) on July 11^th, and will cover an average of 130 miles per day for a total of nearly 1,700 miles.

Both riders were excited to find a way through which they could raise money with their  mutual hobby. "My son and I share a love of cycling. We realized that this would be an amazing experience and a great way to spend time together," Karl Sterling said.

RE/MAX Masters of Syracuse, where Karl Sterling works as a full-time real estate agent, is sponsoring the ride. Events will be held at various RE/MAX offices along the way to help raise additional funds for the cause.

Deanna Fusillo and Sharon Riggs of RE/MAX Valley chaired RE/MAX Valley’s participation in this fund-raising event. “RE/MAX Valley Associates in particular are mindful of the impact they make locally, not just in real estate but as caring citizens,” Fusillo said.

RE/MAX, which has worked with Children’s Miracle Network in the past, has a long tradition of community commitment. “We’re concerned not only with contributing to our community but also with the outcome of those contributions, ” Riggs said. RE/MAX Hearthstone in Canfield was also involved in planning.   

The Holiday Inn – Boardman also lent a helping hand by providing complimentary dinner, breakfast and a room for the weary travelers during their stay in the area.

 “It’s a great feeling to be able to help out,” said Holiday Inn – Boardman General Manager Don Jozwiak. “It’s so refreshing to see people giving so much for such a worthy cause.”
