(Boardman, Ohio July 28, 2009) - RE/MAX Valley Real Estate and Walnut Run Golf Club, hosted the second annual Mahoning Valley RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship Qualifier, Saturday July 25th. The event succeeded in raising nearly $2,000 for the Rescue Mission Of Mahoning Valley. Paula Lazzari, Site Director for the event, said, "We want to thank this years sponsors for their generous donations, my fellow agents from RE/MAX Valley who donated their time and man-power, the marvelous folks here at Walnut Run who did just about everything to make this event go, and especially the Long Drivers whose competition makes this all possible."
Nearly 40 Long Drivers participated in the event and seven qualified for the upcoming Region 4 competition, August 8-9. (The Golf Shack , Rockford, Illinois). Winners of the 10 regional events will go on to the National Event to be held in Mesquite Nevada, October 25-30, 2009, driving for a total purse of $550,000. ESPN will broadcast the event December 20 and again on ESPN2 December 25. "It's a great feeling knowing we're a part of the one of the world's most popular grass roots events," said Lazzari, "and at the same time helping an organization that means so much to this community, the Rescue Mission Of Mahoning Valley.
